Global Ethics Limited, trading as The One Brand, has become one of the first businesses in the UK to achieve the ethical B Corporation certification.
Scoring significantly higher than the 97-point average for a B Corp, the business was awarded 104.8 points for meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
Duncan Goose, founder and CEO, commented, ‘We are very excited to be one of the first companies in the UK to certify as a B Corporation. Although our ethics have always been ingrained in our principles, it’s great to see that other companies are starting to look beyond mere corporate social responsibility reporting and are holding themselves more accountable for their corporate behaviour.
‘I think the world is slowly waking up to the reality of how corporate behaviour can no longer only be driven by profitability – but more on the impact that business has. For once, the competitive advantage will take second place to the good of society.’
Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their stakeholders including workers, suppliers, community, consumers and the environment. There are more than 1,300 Certified B Corporations from over 120 industries and nearly 40 countries with one unifying goal – to redefine success in business.
